Cylinder Leakage test

Firstly the engine must be running until it's reached full temperature. The spark plugs are removed, the engine timed up to top dead centre (tdc) ensuring both inlet and exhaust valves closed. Each cylinder is then pressurised with compressed air to give a reading in %.

A cylinder in perfect condition will leak around 2-5%. However it's considered an engine requires rebuilding if it reaches 25%.

Bore Scope

The engine must be below 50 deg Celsius, spark plugs removed and each cylinder is brought to bottom dead centre. Using the spark plug hole, a camera is fed through the bore and inspected for damage.
